Working in partnership Comar Architectural Aluminium Systems and 3D Aluminium completed the installation of aluminium windows, doors and curtain walling to the West Hampstead Square Development in London.
The West Hampstead Square development comprises of 7 new build residential tower blocks and commercial retail units, ranging from 5 to 12 storey’s. Over 950 Comar 9P.i High Performance windows and doors were installed to the residential apartments across the 7 blocks. Comar 9P.i windows offer a truly integrated solution with low U-values and fast-track fabrication and installation. Polyamide Insulated (P.i) window and door systems also provide exceptional thermal performance in a market where energy efficient designs and meeting the demands of the latest building regulations are paramount.
To improve installation timescales, the EPDM was bonded to the windows in the factory process. The frames were powder coated to a bespoke metallic finish. Given the proximity of West Hampstead Underground Station, installation included acoustic triple glazed units to meet the required acoustic report. The general scope included tilt & turn windows, curtain walling with built in patio doors, and electronic actuators for smoke ventilation purposes.
Comar 6 curtain walling was specified as it offers a slim 50mm sight line and is a versatile thermally efficient system designed to integrate panels and glass of different widths into the façade, with special profiles to include opening vents and doors. Comar 7P.i Commercial Doors were installed to the commercial retail entrances. For high traffic retail entrances, Comar 7P.i Commercial Door sets were the natural choice. Not only are they available in swing, pivot, sliding, auto-sliding and sliding folding, they have been designed specifically for applications where high traffic solutions are required.
All Comar approved fabricators are required to have the technical expertise to attend pre-site meetings and provide detailing. 3D Aluminium liaised closely with the specifiers to provide design advice and detailing which ensured the project ran smoothly and met site deadlines.
